This guest bath was only one of five new rooms added to the
new wing of this remodeled project, and the goal was to make this bath area
elegant and simple. Marble, etched mirrors and cast glass were the materials
chosen "to make this all happen."
On the top edge of the marble wainscoting, there is a
beveled detail with a double bullnose under it. This treatment extends
around the entire room. The same edge is repeated on the two custom-made
vanities. The marble flooring features 18-inch tiles that were cut from a
slab, beveled and laid on the diagonal to expand the eye.
The shower/steam unit is frameless, and one wall is cast
glass with a floral and leaf motif in positive and negative relief.
The same design has been picked up in the etched mirrors
that encircle the room above the marble wainscoting.
A skylight with cast glass was added to the area, then the
entire area was trimmed with crown moulding.
